In this week’s business section, shares of Redbox’s parent company – Coinstar suddenly skyrocketed to 16% because the profits got much better on their recent DVD rental services. From a meek $6.15 percent, Coinstar’s stock rose to $44.36 per share and it is almost as high as $50.35 (which was their last year’s share rate).
Coinstar’s DVD rental business now makes up for ¾ portions of its parent company’s profit and revenue. In addition to the normal DVD business, Coinstar also operates those coin counting machines and money transfer kiosks. But as compared to the DVD rental business, their other businesses were pretty flat since the first quarter of this year.

As per the current statistics, Coinstar has increased its profits on DVD rentals and they expect this business to grown stronger with the passage of time. But there is also a huge population of those people who just download movies from the internet so I think, Movie Rental business isn’t

Coinstar said its robust DVD business will continue to grow stronger, so the company raised its profit and sales outlook for the year. But there is also a fair amount of users who download movies straight off the internet, so they are going to give some tough time to people who are in the movie rental business these days.
Redbox has hired hundreds of employees to buy premium quality DVDs at retailer like Wal-Mart, to build up a good stock of movies but some evidence says that renters are not going to prefer those movies that have been already released in the market, years ago.
