Romney Wants a Worse Economy
Obama’s camp accused that Mitt Romney is wishing for a worsening US economy so that his chances of winning the election on November will increase. According to an Obama campaign official, Romney’s camp is betting on the deterioration of the economy.
It’s not about Mitt Romney or people rallying to send his message across. Their strategy is to wait for things to be bad enough and throw President Obama out and stick Romney in. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to a group of campaign reporters added that Romney’s camp will likely not to succeed with that strategy.
Andrea Saul, spokeswoman for the Romney campaign, said that the accusation was without basis and pointed out that Romney hopes for things to be better. The republican candidate repeated it during the campaign trail that everyone hopes the economy to succeed but the only thing that stops it from happening is President Obama’s policies.
In the past several weeks, the worsening economy has been placed in the spotlight by the Republican campaign. The Republican National Committee recently sent a Wall Street Journal article about the Federal Reserve’s economic forecast for the rest of the year.
Last Wednesday, Romney’s camp sent an email to reporters that contained stories regarding the declining economic confidence, large number of underpaid and unemployed workers, as well as the Labor Department report that showed a decrease in job openings. Romney’s ads often show depressing economic numbers.
The briefing in Washington was attended by four Obama campaign officials. They gave an overview of the presidential race and they hope they can steer it to their advantage in the next months. They painted a positive picture of their campaign except for two exceptions. They said that the GOP will have more than $1 billion in campaign funds from super PACs and the prospect of a deteriorating economy.
