The California’s same-sex marriage ban trial starting next week will be recorded on a videocassette and will be uploaded to a Web site.

Vaughn Walker, Chief U.S. District Judge, was the first who a couple of months ago arrived at an idea to broadcast the most foretasted proceedings live. He wanted to record trails that later would be broadcasted on the YouTube Web site.

Walker did not explain the reasons why he rather preferred a system due to which it is possible to keep the trials from being aired for hours than having simultaneous broadcast instead. But he also underlined that the transmission should be under the control of the court.

Walker considered that in case people would have a possibility to observe how the judiciary work, they would probably have a different understanding of it.

But still the proposed plan has to be approved by the chief judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The California’s same-sex marriage ban is a trial that will be conducted in a Western state for the first time; moreover, it will be the first trial that will decide if gays have rights to wed and if refusal of this constitutes illegal discrimination that will be to be aired and offered to public.
