In relation to the recent and tremendous oil spill incident, BP has been making preparations for the installation of a shutoff valve. This valve will be installed on one the three gushing leaks, off the Coast of New Orleans, as it is clear that the oil spill has gained the shape of a dangerous environmental disaster.
The oil slick is rapidly moving towards the Alabama and Florida coasts and this includes the Chandeleur Islands as well. Presently, the oil spill can and is affecting two things;
- The economy, on a massive level
- Environmental surroundings and aquatic life
On Monday, BP also announced that it will be covering all the cost incurred in the cleanup operation, from start till the end. The main concern at this moment is the heart of the problem itself – the Deep Water Horizon oil rig.
There are 3 sources of those leaks, which need to be taken care of and right now, BP is taking care of one leak through a shutoff valve. Still, there needs to be a lot of work done and company owner, Bob Fryar explained a fully fledged for handling and confronting the whole situation.
When the Deepwater Oil Rig exploded, the heavy hi-tech equipment, lying 5,000 feet beneath the water surface was supposed to take care of any sort of leak. The system didn’t work after the explosion and that is why, the oil spill hasn’t even reduced to tiniest bit, with respect to its pressure and flow.
Mr. Obama said that all those Americans will be helped later, who are getting affected by this oil spill, through some kind of compensation program. Fishermen were assured by the President that those guys at BP will cover their lost earnings.
