BP Tries to Stop the Leak Through Trials and Efforts

BP-Tries-to-Stop-the-Leak-through-Trials-and-Efforts In regards to the recent oil spill, British Petroleum, Transocean and Halliburton are making efforts to stop the leak. So far, none of these three companies have succeeded and they’re just trying to stop the leak, through trial and effort basis.

Scientists are running their own show on the side, through analysis regarding the volume of oil that is being spilled on daily basis. Officials at BP, Transocean and Halliburton used “state of the art” technology to calculate the amount of spill and said that, about 5,000 gallons of oil is being spilled.

However, scientists don’t agree to what BP has to say because obviously, a company would never reveal the true facts and figures, just to end up people raving about its level of incompetence.

We all know that BP previously announced the success of the “tube” experiment. They said that the oil is being redirected to a huge container on the surface, through the insertion of a tube, in the affected area of the pipe. But some videos have shown that the tube itself is suffering a leakage of some kind, and on an overall scale, a very small amount of oil is being captured, which is literally — next to nothing if we compare it to the level of oil that is being gushed out.

Engineers are still trying to make efforts, in order to handle the situation. BP has announced some “so called” plans to deal with the oil crisis, but so far none of the three companies have been able to fulfill any promises.

To us, it seems like the oil will stop leaking on its own. Lets just wait for a few more months or maybe a couple of years, until the entire stock leaks out, on its own.

  1. Fred Pulver says:

To stop the oil leak, I envision a “snake”-type coiled cable encased in a flexible outer sheath that could be inserted into the broken pipe like is done to unclog home plumbing pipes.

The “snake” would be inserted into the pipe while turning it in the direction that compresses it and maintains its low profile so as to avoid its being pushed back out by the escaping torrent of oil.

The “snake” would be fed into the pipe as deeply as possible. At that point, the direction of turning would be reversed. The coiled casing of the “snake” would then expand outward until it encounters the well-channel casing wall. At the same time, the the inner cable, which was attached to the tip of the “snake”, would be retracted from above. The effect of these two actions would be to expand the casing until it blocks the well channel casing tightly and securely enough to effectively block further flow of oil from the well.

The expansion effect desired would be similar to what happens when screws are tightened in moly anchors in cement walls. Tightening the screw encased in the moly anchors makes the anchors expand, effectively securing themselves tightly to the hole that has been previously drilled into the cement wall.

I see no reason why a similar procedure could not be engineered and employed in the Gulf well disaster. The cable would just have to be long enough to reach from the surface ship that would deploy it, if it could not be inserted and managed by deep-water robotic submarines. In any case, the robotic submarines could help direct the cable into the damaged pipe whereupon the rest of the deployment could be managed from the surface vessel. 5-21-10

Has anyone suggested plugging the leak from the source side rather than from where the oil is exiting the host rock. The beaver repairs his dams on the pond side of dam . not the side where the water is gushing ! If this can”t be done try inserting an inflatable bladder into the drill hole and pumping it full of a quick hardening substance .
