According to recent reports, New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer and Massachusetts Senator John Kerry have been bickering back and forth over the “third thing” in the Democratic Party’s agenda to move forward. They already have health care but it’s not doing too well. They are tackling financial issues which include the bailing out of banks and new rules. Now they have room for1 more item. That’s why Schumer and Kerry are fighting. Schumer wants to take on immigration and Kerry thinks climate change should be added. Now it does not matter so much who wins but more what all this internal arguing might do when the President says no to both of them.
Of course, both of the Senators deny that there’s anything of the sort going on. However, it is quite clear that there is SOMETHING brewing. Schumer has been upping his efforts by complaining about a prison closing that might affect illegals badly. He has also written the primary Democratic immigration bill that may be considered this year.
In the meantime, Kerry is in Copenhagen to reassure the world that global warming is a top priority to the United States, or at least to HIM. Kerry has also pressured the President to at least mention global warming as a part of his State of the Union Address.
However, there really isn’t room for another “thing.” So if another issue is forced, there will be so much anger among voters that they won’t be able to accomplish anything.
