Lebanon Aid From US Military Delayed

The U.S. military aid that is going to the Lebanon army has been suspended by the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. With this aid being suspended there are now growing concerns about the possible weapons supplied by Americans which could cause a threat to Israel.

It appears that the $100 million aid was put on hold out of fear because of a militant group known as Hezbollah. Rep.Howard Berman, D-California, said that he was worried that this group would have possibly become influenced by the aid and there would have been more fighting going on. His concern was confirmed the next day when Lebanese soldiers got shot and an Israeli officer was killed. This took place around the countries border.

He said that until they know more about this situation and how much influence the Hezbollah is having that it is not recommended for the United States to keep on sending the weapons directly to Lebanon. Berman is also hoping that the Obama Administration might review the policy in regards to the training and weapons being used in the Lebanese military.

In regards to what happened, Eric Cantor R-VA, said that Lebanon needs to decide what they want because they cannot go on with having both ways. If they pick Hezbollah, they will have to deal with the consequences.
