In 2002, former U.S. President, George W. Bush came to the U.S. Military Academy to set a security doctrine after the 9/11 incident. It was a time of peril and discomfort throughout the nation and during that time, President George Bush, did what he had to.
However, almost after a gap of one decade, President Barack Obama took the same stage and setting to offer a revised vision and vowed that the Americans are not going to retreat enemies in their mission for pursuing national renewal and global leadership.
He opened up by admittedly agreeing to the shortcomings of his predecessor (George W. Bush of course) and said that on an On-and-Off term, American people have been coping up with hard times, by shaping the currents into the direction of liberty and justice.
This presidential address wasn’t only aimed at those 1000 young men and women in gray and white uniforms because Mr. Obama was also referring to a huge international audience and the common American people. Since, 2002, this was the 9th West Point class to graduate and chances are that most of these young marines are going to be posted to areas like, Afghanistan and Iraq – sooner or later.
During his address, President Barack Obama also pointed towards the recent failed terrorist attempts in the Times Square Car bomb incident and said that it looks like; Al Qaeda has been under a lot of pressure. They want to strike the U.S. boundaries again, but this time they haven’t been able to fully prepare themselves due to immense threat from our side.
