A second storm blew into Southern California on Tuesday bringing with it heavy rains and high winds that caused some windows to be smashed, sank cars, and even flipped over an SUV on part of the coastline. Weather forecasters stated that this storm was probably part of a tornado that came inland with rough, rotating style winds in southern Los Angeles County coastal towns and other parts of Orange and San Diego counties.  In spite of the fierceness of this storm, there were no major injuries or damages reported.

San Diego National Weather Service meteorologist, Philip Gonsalves, said that radar had shown this thunderstorm as well as the rotating tornado like winds that it contained.  Southern California tornadoes are quite different than the Midwest twisters in that they tend to begin as waterspouts and break apart very quickly once they hit land.

This speeding thunderstorm moved on in a matter of minutes leaving the sun behind it. However, it also left streets in low lying communities under water and turned some roads into muddy swamps. There were reports showing cars up to their hoods in water and some kayakers paddling in flooded suburb streets.

Flash flood watches remain in effect for some areas in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties.  Fire officials of Los Angeles County stated that they will issue mandatory evacuation orders in some of the more flood prone parts starting at 9PM on Wednesday.

Chances of mudslides and flooding still remain a large concern as a strong jet stream suggests that this weather can continue through Thursday.
