Biden Lashes Out At Romney
For the second consecutive day, Joe Biden the U.S. Vice President has blasted Mitt Romney the Republican presidential nominee. On Wednesday, Biden took issue with Romney’s reluctance to support tax credits for solar and wind energy.
The White House administration has pushed the Congress to grant an extension of tax credits that it says would save clean-energy production related jobs. However, Romney has criticized Obama in his economic plan. Romney says that wind and solar power are two of the most “ballyhooed” alternative fuel forms.
Biden said the country is importing less crude today than at any other time in the last 16 years. He said Romney dismisses solar and wind, but tell that to over 7,000 workers who are helping manufacture wind power in just Iowa.
The tax credits for production of alternative energy gives wind farms 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour credit for all energy produced. Those credits are due to end at the end of 2012. The President has also called on Congress to extend an investment tax credit of 30% for manufacturers investing in equipment to produce components for projects of clean energy in the U.S.
Biden also attacked Romney again as the chief of outsourcing in the U.S., because company’s Romney invested in sent jobs to overseas markets. Biden said Romney was wrong in differentiating the two words outsourcing and offshoring. He said the bottom line was both amount to taking jobs from the U.S. and sending them overseas.
