Democrats Claim New Romney Ad is Misleading
Democrats blasted Mitt Romney’s new television ad. They said that the Republican hopeful distorted President Barack Obama’s own words from the 2008 presidential campaign. The ad began airing today as Obama is set to visit New Hampshire. It quoted then-candidate Obama as saying that if they keep talking about the economy, they’re going to lose.
According to the Democrats, Obama was just quoting an adviser to Arizona Senator John McCain, who was then the GOP presidential nominee. Romney’s camp acknowledged that the quote did indeed come from McCain’s advisor.
From the looks of things, Romney’s camp will attack President Obama harder than he’s been doing before. Gail Gitcho, Romney’s communications director, said that the 2012 presidential elections would be a referendum on the current president’s record.
President Obama talked about his economic plan in New Hampshire, where he was greeted by a two-paged open letter from Romney that was posted in newspapers in Nashua, Manchester and Concord. Romney stated that Obama’s policies failed.
Reporters got press releases from Romney’s camp. One such release was titled Obama isn’t working. Romney supporters were planning to gather at the high school where Obama was scheduled to appear. Former GOP presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty and Senator Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire were set to do interviews.
