Dems to Move Judicial Nominees. What Way?

Dems-to-Move-Judicial-Nominees-What-Way The Democratic Leaders are getting a little itchy about the issue of selecting a replacement for Supreme Court Justice – John Paul Stevens. Senator / Senate Leader Harry Reid thought of revving up the vote confirmation process in the coming few weeks. “Even if we have to maintain the senate sessions on weekends, we wont step back” – Harry Reid.

President Barack Obama cannot make this decision alone because he needs votes for his decisions and so far he has been able to come up with only 59 of them. Right now, a major portion of people is focused on Supreme Courts only but the lowers courts matter as well. So there is no proper justifiable reason for holding those nominations up and delaying the whole process.

President Obama, on the other hand, has called in leaders of the senate and democratic officials to white house, in order to mutually discuss the vacancy of Supreme Court Justice. And it seems like a proper decision will be made somewhere near August. Last year the senate confirmed Sonia Sotomayor as one of the nominations for Supreme Court. Down the list we have other famous names as well.

So far, Leahy believes that Obama’s nominees from lower courts haven’t had much opposition to face and the whole process has gone smooth so far. Since the elections of January 2009, President Obama has sent 56 federal district and court nominations. 18 of them have been confirmed and the remaining 22 are still awaiting a final decision in the senate.
