Bill Clinton Makes Surprise Appearance To Back Obama Tax Bill

Former President Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance Friday afternoon to speak on behalf of President Obama’s tax deal he recently struck with Republicans. The deal extends the Bush tax cuts that affect all household, even the ones that make the most income.

Clinton has been out of the White House for at least 10 years, but seemed as popular as he ever was as he calmly answered reporter’s questions from behind the White House podium. He was brought in by Obama to help pacify Democrats who are angry with the extension of the tax breaks for the rich.

Clinton appeared to be the perfect person to attempt to cool down the irritated liberals edging for a fight over the issue. Clinton is well known for being able to maintain peace and prosperity in the country during his time in office in the 90’s. Clinton told reporters that he thought the deal was a good one and that there was not anything else out there any better.

Clinton met with President Obama first, then expressed his support for the tax deal, as well as the temporarily stalled nuclear treaty between the U.S. and Russia. It was thought that Clinton may have given Obama some advice on how to deal with his critics on both sides of the political fence.

The deal being discussed not only extends the Bush tax cuts, but also extends unemployment 13 months and gives a one year reduction for the Social Security employee payroll taxes. The reason liberals are angry is they fear this deal will lead to others with the Republicans.

Clinton himself has had similar problems in his own political career, when during his first term of office the Democrats lost control of Congress.  This forced him to parley with the Republicans to help him meet his own goals. It worked out in the long run, leading to a much praised welfare reform and balanced budget.
