Florida Federal Court Ruling Revitalizes Senate GOP Repeal Efforts
A federal court in Florida decided that President Obama’s health care law is unconstitutional. This revitalizes the Republican Senators efforts to repeal the law. They’re asking for a vote on the total repeal by the end of the week.
The Senate Democrats refuse to bring the health care repeal to the floor even if it was passed by the House. Now the Republicans are looking for any opportunity to amend any moving legislation to include health care.
Minority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell stated that it would be a disservice to their constituents if the Republicans in Senate would give up on the repeal of the health care law. Republicans see the Florida federal court as the start of the death of the health care law.
Democrats are still optimistic that the repeal will not push through. Senator Dick Durbin, second ranking Democrat in the Senate, stated that Republicans should instead focus on the FAA bill that would create and save jobs across the country instead of pushing for the repeal.
Democrats state the obvious when they say that the repeal wouldn’t work at present because the Democrats will not break their ranks and President Obama will veto any repeal. Republicans said that some symbolic gestures have become law in the past.
