Hispanic Stars come out For Votes
A number of Hispanic stars are out trying to get Hispanic votes for candidates they support. They are pinpointing the young Hispanic vote and the latest star to help is America Ferrera, the star of Ugly Betty.
Her drive, called America4America is aimed at educating the younger Hispanics about the key issues that dominate the upcoming presidential election, as well as motivating them to become more involved in the electoral process.
Ferrara said it was important for the voters to be aware of the issues that are affecting their lives. The best thing she said voters could do was become educated on the issues and find out which of the candidates is being the best advocate for their wants and needs.
The actress says that her decision to get involved was due to the restriction in voter registration. She said it was an opportunity to push back against the new rules and make sure Hispanics are able to register, vote and help make a difference on November 6.
Ferrara offers another face in the Voto Latino push that is celebrity backed. Rosario Dawson another actress is the co-founder of the organization and is principal spokesperson. The group has been able to get the backing of Pitbull and over 35 other artists who have donated music to help support the education of the voter that the organization is pushing. During their last tour, Mana partnered with the group offering voter registration that was non-partisan at all of its concert tour venues.
The goal is to get more young Hispanics voters to register and vote. It is estimated that 50,000 Hispanic turn 18 each month and become eligible voters.
