New Online System Allows Address Changes by Voters
Through just clicking their mouse, Ohio voters can now perform updates to their address online. On Thursday, state of Ohio officials announced their new system was now operating. Jon Husted, the Ohio Secretary of State said the system would make it much easier for voters in Ohio to help make November 6 run smoother. He said that the added convenience given to voters is a tool that strengthens the fight against voter fraud, as the current and more accurate voters’ rolls will leave even less room for people to abuse the law.
If voters need to update their address, they can visit MyOhioVote.com and make the change directly online. Husted said that the system succeeds in making it much easier for the voters and enhances the security and accuracy of the voter polls. Over six million registered voters in Ohio can make address changes online. Once the online process is made by the voter, a notice will be sent out by the board of elections to confirm the updated address and give the voter their location for voting at the same time.
Those voters who update their addresses between now and the beginning of October will also be able to receive an application to vote through the mail in the Presidential Election in November. This is an initiative that Husted is sponsoring to make sure voters throughout the state have an equal opportunity to cast their ballot, whether by voting early, through the mail or on November 6.
Many of the eyes of the nation will be watching Ohio on November 6 since it is considered one of the important battleground states that both candidates need to win to ensure winning the election.
