Both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney’s campaigns came out with Mother’s Day videos last Sunday with each presidential candidate praised his wife or mother. They also featured political banters targeted towards each other. Mother’s Day

President Obama’s video showed the work that his mother has made to raise him. It showed the clear connection between the way he was brought up by his mother and some of the topics of his campaign speeches. He said that his mother recognized that people who have the talent and opportunities should give back to the community.

He added that the women in his life are good examples for his daughters because they see the contributions that women give in their own family. It is the president’s way to highlight both his grandmother and his wife.

The closing scenes of his video showed the importance of President Obama’s legislations on women. Some of the measures that the president pushed are the Lilly Ledbetter Act and the health care reform law.

On the other side of the fence, Mitt Romney’s campaign video placed the spotlight on how his wife, Ann, raised their sons Ben, Matt, Craig, Josh and Tagg. It recalled several moments from their past, which were mostly about them being troublemakers.

Tagg said that his mother decided that if you can’t beat them, join them. She played games with them. She made forts and got down to wrestle with them. She also played catch with her sons. The video showed several old family videos that showed the family throughout the ages and different settings. The sons praised their mother’s ability to listen to them as well as her personal struggles through cancer and multiple sclerosis. It also showed her eagerness to help those in need. Mitt Romney didn’t appear in the video but his name was featured at the end to ask for donations that will benefit the Republican presidential campaign.
