President Obama Presents His Long-Form Birth Certificate
President Barack Obama released the long form of his birth certificate today, thus putting to rest any issues or doubts about where he was born.
During a Wednesday press conference, Obama said that the question of if he was really born in Honolulu, Hawaii, had been going on for two and a half years. He added that during that timeframe he has wondered why it went so long, and that although usually he wouldn’t say anything, but that two weeks ago during a time when the Republican House was putting forward a budget that had huge consequences for the country, the most prominent news story out there wasn’t on that, it was on his birth certificate.
If you want to see a copy of the birth certificate, it is posted on White House website.
Earlier in the week, presidential hopeful and real estate mogul Donald Trump kept the story going by saying that the president could say whatever he liked, that that he hasn’t reveled the real birth certificate and there are other people who agreed with him.
When Obama spoke to the nation on Wednesday, Trump spoke in New Hampshire and gave himself credit for the now released birth certificate. Trump said that he was glad that it had been released and hoped that it would get rid of the issue.
Dan Pfeiffer, White House communications director said that the president thought the distractions over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country, and that it was bad for the American people and distracted everyone from the many challenges we are facing as a country.
