As far as the Westchester County race results go, Bob Cohen has conceded to Democratic Senator – Suzi Oppenheimer. However, the Reps are still hopeful regarding the final victory in the long run. On the other hand, Oppenheimer’s achievement added up to the total Dem vote count by a hefty 30 seats in the 62 member chamber.

The final call rests with the courts though. If they order for another recount in the contested Long Island Race, the current GOP lead may evaporate. The Justice at Long Island isn’t in favor of delays and recount sessions so things seem pretty much in favor of the Republicans. After holding the majority for more than 40 years, Republicans will be reclaiming a significant portion of the senate.

According to Senator Craig Johnson (Dem), a hand recount is probably in consideration as Jack martins of the Republicans is dancing aloof these days. Johnson did file and appeal but it hasn’t been heeded to lately. “Frankly, this is bigger than me, bigger than Jack Martins, and bigger than who controls the State Senate,” Johnson said in a statement. “This is about preserving the principle of one man, one vote that our government was founded upon.”

Oppenheimer, in a closing statement pertaining to the recent win, said, “It is with deep humility and great purpose that I accept this responsibility to work on behalf of the people of Westchester; and vow to continue my record of success on education reform, cost-cutting, and service to the community.”
