Romney Campaigning With Sen. Ayotte
Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will campaign on Monday with Senator Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire. The Republican Senator’s name had been mentioned as a possible Vice Presidential running mate for Romney. Like on other occasions that Romney has appeared with possible contenders for the vice presidency, the event today might be viewed as a try out for Ayotte.
A New Hampshire native, Ayotte endorsed Romney a number of months prior to the states primary and has been coy about her prospects of possibly being on the short list of Romney’s vice presidential candidates. She was very active helping the former Governor of Massachusetts during the recent primaries.
Events such as the one today are trial runs for possible tickets, giving Romney’s staff the opportunity to see the chemistry between Romney and the prospect. It also helps to gauge public perception of the two while in the public eye.
Back in November, in a television interview, Romney said he was considering Ayotte for the vice presidency. At that time, Romney said his list consisted of about 15 people who could be possible running mates on his ticket and that Senator Kelly Ayotte was on that list.
Romney is the owner of a New Hampshire vacation home and served as the Governor of Massachusetts for one term, which borders New Hampshire. He is a popular choice for Republicans in New Hampshire and in January was a landslide winner in the primary in New Hampshire.
