Romney Ties Obama to Castro, Che and Chavez
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign has just released this week television ads on Spanish language TV in Florida. The ads directly link President Barack Obama with Latin American, far left, strongmen Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Raul Castro and the late “Che” Guevara.
The ads have been running heavily since Tuesday on television programming in Spanish in South Florida, which is home to many politically active Cuban exiles. In the ads, the narrator ask who is supporting Obama and then shows clips of Chavez the president of Venezuela and Mariela Castro, the daughter of Raul Castro saying they would support Castro.
The ads also mention an incident that took place where an EPA staffer circulated inadvertently an email that features Guevara a controversial member of the Cuban Revolution with the Castro’s.
These ads are unlike other ones on television because it was not circulated originally to the media by the Romney campaign. These ads come as the final week of the presidential campaign began, when candidates usually make their own closing ad for voters.
The campaign for Romney expressed confidence it will make gains amongst Hispanic voters in the state, particularly by increasing its support with Cuban voters who are largely supportive of Republicans. However, the Democrats are saying the ads show signs of desperation on the part of Romney.
The ads are eye opening, but their argument is not a big surprise for most. Romney publically accused the President of being soft on the Castro and Chavez regimes. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, a Republican, took to his Twitter account to compare a speech by Obama in July to that of a third world leader from the left.

We should be more afraid of Mr. Romney than the others. At least they say the same thing from week to week and we know where they stand. In Mr. Romney’s case, for all we know, he may have tax havens and investments in their countries.
