Secession Talk Continues In Texas
A number of Americans across the U.S. have filed petitions on the website of the White House calling for the state they live in to secede from the union. The most signatures of any of the online petitions, has been for the state of Texas. That was posted on the website just three days after President Barack Obama was reelected.
However, the majority of Texans do not take seriously the idea of the state seceding from the union. Pushing the secession idea is the Texas Nationalist Movement.
The director of the TNM said that people in Texas are worried about the increasing national debt. Cary Wise, the executive director, said once the federal government could no longer control the debt that it rolls back onto the states, all states, not just Texas.
A number of people in the state say the federal government spends too much and is intrusive. One drawback to many over the secession idea is whether Texas has enough resources to rely just on themselves.
The majority of the support from secession is from states that voted for Mitt Romney, Obama’s Republican rival. No one has mentioned the reelection of Obama as a reason for wanting to secede.
However, the petition from Texas claims, amongst other things, that the government overstepped its powers. More than 115,000 people have signed the Texas petition.
Most doubt Texas would ever secede saying it is nothing more than political theater and not reality. Since there is no strong serious political person behind the movement, it really will not go anywhere, said on political analyst.

Right, the folks from Texas are worried about the national debt. I bet they weren’t writing to their representatives in Washington when their former governor and his Congress took a balance budget handed to them by Clinton and created the mess we are in today.
Hear! Hear!
Of course they’re only a minority (hahahahahaaa) in those states that want to secede, so we’ll have to pile ‘em all together in one place and let them take that out of the Union. I’m thinking, Alaska! They already have a Governor that fits. Really, this isn’t half as nuts as they are…if they want to go, and live in a no tax, no services paradise, let them go…and good riddance.
Haven’t they heard about Appomattox Court House?
Yes…one of the biggest feeders at the Federal trough and biggest whiners about any other state that get’s any Federal dollars no matter how small. Just a sampling of the Federal dollars they suck up…Brooks AFB, Dyess AFB, Goodfellow AFB,Lackland AFB, Laughlin AFB, Randolph AFB,Sheppard AFB,Fort Bliss,Fort Hood,Red River Army Depot,Naval Air Station Fort Worth,NAS Corpus Christi,Naval Air Station Kingsville,Naval Station Ingleside, etc. etc. sure I missed some Federal slop here. I keep hoping they will succeed and go, and maybe some other states can get back some of the jobs lost when the Fed shut everyone elses bases down. Cause once they go we ain’t stayin. Once they did succeed,I would think with the loss of the military industrial complex supporting their backwards thinking State the economy of Texas will begin to s*&# the bed. Buh,bye!!
I remember when the speaker of the house ( a democrat ) was funneling soo much pork to texass, until he got tied up in a ethics probe. kinda gives a spin on takers and makers…..
Why is this even news? These sore losers represent less then half of one percent of the population in Texas. It’s a temper tantrum, and should be ignored by the rest of us adults.
