Sestak to Hope to Defeat Republican-Turned-Democrat Senator Arlen Specter

 Sestak-to-Hope-to-Defeat-Republican-Turned-Democrat-Senator-Arlen-Specter Last Sunday Rep. Joe Sestak, followed by an array of reporters, walked into the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church and headed for the back row. At the time of his entrance, there were 70 members of the congregation, who took notice of Joe’s small ruffle.

Apparently, Sestak is hoping to defeat the famous Republican-turned-Democrat Senator Arlen Specter in the upcoming electoral run. Sestak sat for 30 minutes, while the sermon was being delivered and finally he got up to make his little speech.

Things went breezy for Sestak and by the end of his pitch; people were impressed by his military career, ties to former President Clinton and his young daughter’s triumph over brain cancer.

Meanwhile, the same scene was repeated an hour earlier, but the faces were a little different at that time. We had Senator Arlen Specter, entering the church, making haste to the front pew, where he received a standing ovation.

He made his own pitch by pulling something more than just a bunch of tiny hair up his arm. This time, it was an ace from his sleeve: President Barack Obama and the Black Clergy of Philadelphia both endorsed him in the primary.

Both Specter and Sestak have been making rounds across different churches, with the same mode of operation. From the looks of it, Specter has a strong position among his supporters because we have a lot of incidents to relate to his helping attitude and kindness;

- Simm Renwick – 64 year old guy who got retired, openly sais that it was Specter who helped him with all his paperwork for a number of years after he returned home from Vietnam. So basically at this point it makes him his supporter.

The bottom line pits down both Senators in need of vote from the Black community. The black vote is critical and it could add up to the decisiveness of the whole situation for either one of the contestants. For example; Selby – 52 year old nurse, thinks that the Black Clergy’s endorsement doesn’t matter but Specter’s support of the Obama stimulus bill has a lot of weight these days.
