We Have Gone Backwards With Obama
Arthur Davis, a former Democratic Congressman from Alabama, who lost his reelection bid in 2010 after four terms, said he might seek public office once again in the state of Virginia. This time however, he said he would run for the Republican Party. He said he supported Obama four years ago because he had hoped it would help bring the country together. Unfortunately Davis said that did not happen, instead he said the country has backtracked.
He was asked why he would change party afflictions and he said while out of office he has had a chance to see what direction the country is taking and you do not have to worry about getting votes and you can reflect. He said that over the past two years he could see where the country has lost substantial ground economically.
Each time it looks like the country will move ahead, he said, it takes a step backwards. He says the country is more divided at this time than four years ago. He said the school systems were not working correctly and many of the policies that have been put in place by the White House administration have ended up being counterproductive. Businesses he commented, do not feel they are able to create new jobs because of the economic environment.
Changing parties for him was not something he said he could do lightly, but his views at this time are more aligned with the Republicans than with the Democrats. He said he no longer supports Obama because Obama’s promise to bring together the country as a whole was not carried out.
