Arnold Schwarzenegger has certainly come a long way from the time he first announced his candidature for Governor’s office in August 2003, on NBC’s Jay Leno show. The two-term Gov, whose term ends in a couple of months appeared on the late-night Jay Leno show recently, where he spoke about the failed Proposition 19, midterm election results and his future plans.

The outgoing California Governor, had signed a law about a month ago, that equated the consequences of possessing an ounce of marijuana to being only as bad as being given a speeding ticket. Voters had other ideas though when they rejected the ballot initiative, Proposition 19, that would legalize possession and cultivation of marijuana in the state.

The Governor’s casual attitude towards marijuana was further evident when the host asked him about the law he signed and the failure of proposition 19. “It makes it from a misdemeanor into an infraction, which is kind of like a speeding ticket. And no one cares if you smoke a joint or not.” The Governors comments evoked nervous reactions from the audience, as he continued to defend the law saying,” “I think it’s important to know that propositions don’t die because the idea is bad. It’s just dies because it’s written wrong.”

When asked about the gubernatorial election results, Schwarzenegger said that the results were pretty much as expected but noted that it appeared polarized. “But it was so extreme in many ways; extreme right, extreme left.” He said that there was need for future politicians of all hues to work together to pull the State out of the deepening crisis.

The U.S. President Barack Obama, showed his funny bone to a huge audience on Saturday – from old times comedians like Jay Leno, to teen sensation – Jonas Brothers.

On a lighter note, Jay Leno got tagged a lot of times, by Obama’s punch lines and we can’t really forget the response of the audience when Obama said that Jay is the only person who has worse ratings than his – it was a true moment when everyone broke into hysterical laughs. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to the program coordinators who let him speak first before Jay Leno because we all know what happens to your ratings if you get a slot after Jay Leno’s.

It was a night, full of chuckles and zingers and even the Vice President (Joe Bidden) and Chief of Staff (Rahm Emanuel) had to take cover, but in vain. To most people out there, this night was more of a stand up comedy show that was performed by the President himself.

The President also mentioned that Senator John McCain didn’t identify himself as a maverick this year – the title he used to tout while running for presidency against Obama. But we all known that politics is not an easy game and when things get pushed to the national level, only the best of the best survive out there.

“You know what “tickles” me the most? Its Erica Massa” – said the President, obviously pointing towards the Massa scandal in a lighter tone. All in all, this Saturday event was a glazy one, with different names, including lawmakers, Hollywood celebrities, journalists and pop singers.
