In about 35 of 58 crashes that happen with the Toyota people have failed to use the brakes. Recently there was a Toyota review that confirmed this.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that they did not see any kind of evidence related to electronic causes after the accidents had been reviewed by the vehicle recorders. It appears that the number one cause for the Toyota accidents is that people fail to brake the pedals and confuse it with the accelerator. The investigation by the NHTSA officials said that they have not drawn any kind of conclusion yet that there might be other kinds of causes which could be unintended with the acceleration being entrapment with the pedals and the gas pedals sticking.

This report has put the confidence back in a few customers that liked Toyota but unsure of using them because of the brake situation.
