New York Man Arrested for Threatening to Kill Obama
A man from upstate New York was accused of making death threats to President Barack Obama and elementary schoolchildren in Saratoga County. The US Secret Service as well as local authorities conducted the arrest of Brent Dickinson of Saratoga Springs.
The county district attorney’s office said that the 33 year old man has the intention of murdering the targets of his death threats. The district attorney’s office said that the US Secret Service intercepted two messages containing threats that Dickinson posted on a White House message board. The Secret Service immediately contacted the Saratoga Springs police and found out where the emails were sent. They then worked together to track down the suspect that led to his arrest.
Dickinson was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court on charges of making terror threats. The first charge accuses him of targeting President Barack Obama and the second charge accuses him of targeting elementary students. He was sent to the city jail after his bail was set at $50,000. It was not known whether he already had an attorney.
County District Attorney James Murphy said that Dickinson’s threat didn’t specified which elementary school he targeted but they wanted to be sure that the threat would not be carried out. This was the reason why they acted quick upon learning about the threats.
