Centrus (NYSE: LEU) buys Westerman for $116 million to expand supply chain

What happened

Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE: LEU) said it acquired Westerman Holdings, LLC for about $116 million on October 19, 2026. Centrus said Westerman was one of its largest and most diversified suppliers. The deal was funded with about $95 million of cash on hand and $21 million of equity. Centrus said Westerman became a subsidiary after it acquired all of the business lines.

Westerman will keep operating under the Westerman name. The company said Westerman has about 400 employees and four facilities in Ohio, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Its products include centrifuge casings and other major centrifuge components for Centrus. It also makes upstream and midstream oil and gas equipment, engineered industrial systems and nuclear grade products, including UF6 cylinders.

Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Centrus is a scarce U.S.-linked nuclear-fuel and enrichment platform whose equity works only if fuel-security demand and HALEU policy support turn into profitable, common-share-accretive capacity. This deal strengthens that case by bringing a key supplier in-house and widening the manufacturing base. It also adds non-nuclear work to the revenue mix. Centrus said the acquisition supports its previously announced multi-billion-dollar uranium enrichment expansion and should create commercial and operating synergies and cost savings.

The purchase agreement sets Base Cash Consideration at $95 million, so the announced price is about $21 million above that amount. Centrus said the deal should be accretive to adjusted earnings per share in the first year after closing. It also expects lower project costs and better efficiency from an integrated supply chain. The release says government HALEU demand, LEU supply-demand imbalances, competition and expansion execution could still affect results.

What's next

The first year after closing is the main test from this filing. That is when the EPS claim will be measured. If adjusted EPS is accretive, the deal will look like a move toward more profitable capacity and a wider supplier base. If it is not, investors will be left with the supply-chain and manufacturing case alone.
