What happened

The first closing is set for October 20, 2026. The second is set for December 15, 2026. The third is set for February 25, 2027. The 2031 bonds carry a 5.99% coupon, the 2033 bonds carry 6.15% and the 2037 bonds carry 6.33%.

Why it matters

The deal adds financing for debt repayment and capital spending at the utility level. That keeps attention on the balance between infrastructure investment and financing costs. OptimistFi's case is that CenterPoint can create utility-style value if regulators keep allowing returns on that spending. This filing supports that view because it shows more secured funding for the asset base.

The caveat is that the package also adds secured debt. The return on the spending still has to clear the financing burden. The $130 million tranche is 2.6 times the size of the $50 million tranche, so the financing is spread unevenly across maturities.

The filing leaves investors with a clear base case for the balance sheet: more secured debt, more capital spending and more refinancing support. The question is whether the funded projects earn enough to justify the added claims on cash flow.

What's next

The second closing is scheduled for December 15, 2026, and the third is scheduled for February 25, 2027. If both close, SIGECO will complete the three-tranche package and lock in long-dated secured debt.

If either closing fails, the package will be smaller than planned. Completion would confirm the full financing schedule and the full debt load tied to it.
