Aviat (NASDAQ: AVNW) lines up India manufacturing deal for 250,000 links

What happened

Aviat Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVNW) said on October 5, 2026, that it signed a license-to-manufacture agreement with Dixon Electro Appliances Private Ltd. The deal covers designated products in Aviat's WTM 4000 family in India. Dixon will make and sell approved products to select Indian telecommunications operators. Aviat will keep its intellectual property and continue to provide software and services.

Aviat said the setup lets it expand in India's microwave infrastructure market without the usual limits of a traditional contract manufacturing model. The company also said the approach strengthens its ability to serve India's growing microwave market. Aviat said the partnership lets it focus on innovation, software, services and customer relationships. Its India presence already includes research and development, repair and return, and logistics and deployment services across the subcontinent.

Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Aviat can be valuable as a focused microwave and wireless-access transport specialist, but only if scale and integration improve margins and cash conversion. This agreement fits that view because Aviat is using a local manufacturing license instead of owning every step of production. That keeps the company tied to the product and software layer while Dixon handles factory output and sales. It also gives the deal a local operating base.

The partnership's economics remain the key open question. That is the main test for a stock case that depends on better margins and cash conversion, not just more revenue.

Aviat estimates Indian microwave market demand at approximately 250,000 links over the next four years. That matters because it gives the partnership a clear demand target in a market Aviat calls one of the largest growth opportunities in global microwave. Aviat also says the license-to-manufacture structure should create a higher-quality, more capital-efficient growth profile for shareholders.

What's next

The next update that matters is whether Dixon starts manufacturing and selling approved products under the agreement. If those sales reach select Indian telecommunications operators, the setup would show operating traction, not just a signed deal. That would be the clearest sign that the agreement is moving from structure to revenue.
